Esther Zinn

Nice to meet you.

My experience as a writer and editor spans a wide range of content in both the print and digital realms. I hold two advanced degrees in creative writing as well as a certificate in web design. These facets, plus my sincere appreciation of the editorial process and an abiding intellectual curiosity, making me a well-rounded freelancer that can cover anything from how-to articles, to generating web-related content for your business, to providing feedback for your creative work as a story consultant.

Throughout my professional and academic careers I have honed a diverse array of skills: from a meticulous eye for language and usage to highly efficient research abilities; from digital and design fluency to solid project management skills; from experience in advertising to a strong grasp of the production process for newspapers, magazines and websites.

My work has appeared in newspapers and magazines on both sides of the country, including GO Magazine, The Bay Area Reporter, and Shecky’s Bar and Lounge Guide. I am also the author of one novel, The Bridesmaid, which I am currently revising with the help of famed young adult writer Francesca Lia Block.

In terms of academic achievements, I was named the winner of the University of San Francisco’s first annual creative writing competition, in the area of creative non-fiction. Upon graduating from New College of California with an MA, I had maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout the course of my study, and subsequently received a departmental merit scholarship.

I’m also a film director, in addition to my fiction writing. My last short film, Never the Bride, was selected to play at film festivals in San Francisco, New York, and Washington D.C.

As a journalist, I’m committed to delivering objective, precise, accurate news to my readers, and when composing reviews or columns, I know how to give them a special, compelling flair. I invite you to take a look at my samples and see for yourself.
